Los Trompos Beacon Park Detroit
We’ve already hit this up and we’re going back today after school! The interactive art exhibit from Mexico City consists of eight 3-D larger-than-life spinning tops you can get inside while they spin! The tops are based on the construction of the actual toy and reflect the work of Mexican artisans, showcasing their culture, art and architecture. It’s an incredible sight to see!
Fright Night Live! The Matt Smith Group Detroit Institute of Arts
Songwriter, singer and guitarist Matt Smith of Outrageous Cherry and the Volebeats will perform a 45-minute of his new release in the Detroit Film Theatre, before the screening of Andy Warhol’s Chelsea Girls. His sound is a fusion of psychedelia, folk rock, art rock and vintage pop. Plus the museum is open for exploring until 10 pm!
Lids for Kids Berkley Department of Public Safety
Police Open House to show tools used in law enforcement. FREE BIKE HELMETS for all children who attend, plus dunk tank and moon bounces. Weather permitting, the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office helicopter will land in the parking lot and the pilot will be happy to answer questions and show you around the aircraft.
Berkley Art Bash Downtown Berkley
This 18th annual event on Twelve Mile hosts 150 artists, live music, food and lots of fun for kids. The weather will be spectacular and there is so much to do whether you bring the fam or not! Plus, when you want to duck out of the sun there are lots of Berkley small businesses to check out. Parking is free and plentiful. Dogs are welcome.
Jon Agee Talk and Book Signing Book Beat in Oak Park
Meet renowned author-illustrator-playwright-librettist-palindromist Jon Agee!
